DIY: Heart bokeh

For the photo below I made my own heart shaped bokeh, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I was a bit lazy and didn’t make a cap for the lens but simply held my cut-out in front of the lens.
I set my camera to manual mode and set my 50mm f1.8 lens to manual focus. If you use auto focus for this shot your camera will automatically focus on your christmas lights and you won’t get the pretty bokeh.
It was a little tricky trying to get the right exposure because the heart shaped cut-out blocked a lot of light, so I bumped up my ISO to 1600, and set my aperture to f2.0 and my shutterspeed to 1/30.

I had to pin this idea! I only have a lens that is f/3 but will have to try it anyway. I can usually get a "normal" Brokeh effect if I try really hard using it.
